The Intermediate course is the stepping stone to advanced training. You will move from carried equipment to primitive skills: friction and percussion fire, natural navigation and map-making, camp tools and cordage, primitive hunting implements and trapping, foraging and medicinal plants, and long-term camp management. If you take the optional field phase, to pass you must trek up to 10 km and make fire by friction, and on the final night you sleep in your own shelter with minimal comfort items. Online course: $400 CAD. The in-person field course in Edmundston, NB is booked separately at $500 CAD. Level: Intermediate. 7 modules, 10 lessons (approx. 3–4 hours online plus drills). Prerequisite: Basic Survival strongly recommended. Includes: lessons, field drills, quizzes, narrated slide deck and a downloadable course manual. Instructor: Steve Matte, SATS founder, 20-year Canadian Armed Forces veteran and former JTF2 member. Safety: survival training carries real risk.
